IAFF LOCAL 5 Accomplishments
- 2002 - Prevented mandatory paramedic/driver requirement for new recruits
- 2003 - Across the board raise.
- 2003 - Instrumental in electing labor friendly city council.
- 2003 - Maintained FLSA mandatory half time regardless of sick/vacation time used (approx. 500-600 dollars/year)
- 2006 - Instrumental in defeating 200/201 initiatives
- 2006 - Raises for all ranks below company officer
- 2005/06 - Assisted in implementation of new hireback policy 2004-Present - Continued fight for line of duty death benefits
- 2006 - Input on QA pumper policy, integral in assuring 3rd firefighter for minimum staffing
- 2002 - 2006 - Assisted with enhancements to new hire pension plan including earlier retirement and increased benefit
IAFF Accomplishments
- Successful annual lobbying for SAFER act. This benefit has been utilized by the CSFD for grants.
- Successful annual lobbying for pension protection
