Charities We Support
Giving back is a core value of IAFF Local 5. Our members are committed not only to protecting the community through emergency response, but also to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of firefighters, their families, and those facing significant challenges. We are proud to support the following charitable organizations.

Colorado Springs Firefighters Foundation
The Colorado Springs Firefighters Foundation was established to provide aid and support to first responders, their families, and dependents who are impacted by tragedy. Founded by Colorado Springs firefighters, the Foundation helps bridge the gap when firefighters and their families face unexpected hardships, injuries, illnesses, or line-of-duty tragedies. Its mission reflects the fire service tradition of taking care of our own while ensuring families receive support when they need it most.
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)
For more than 70 years, firefighters across North America have partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the iconic Fill the Boot campaign. The IAFF selected MDA as its charity of choice in 1954, beginning one of the most successful charitable partnerships in the fire service. Funds raised support research, medical care, advocacy, and family services for individuals living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other neuromuscular diseases. Local 5 is proud to continue this tradition of service and support for families facing these life-changing conditions.
